Lake front festival of the Arts: Meet Emma Daisy
Hello everyone, my name is Crystal Williams, and welcome to my second blog called Adventurous Dreams. In this blog, I will be writing stories of my own experiences that I have had that is not sports-related, and also writing articles on interesting topics. If you are interested in sports, please visit my first blog, where I post all sports content called Crystal Sideline Buzz: Crystal Sideline Buzz. In today's article, I will be discussing this amazing artist that I met, named Emma Daisy, whose murals are heavily inspired by the beauty and resilience of femininity! I would like to thank Emma for giving me to opportunity to tell your story!
The Beauty and Power of a Woman
Emma Daisy, a Korean adoptee raised on the east side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, creates murals that capture the beauty, resilience, and power of femininity. She views the female figure as a work of art itself, expressing. "Our society has sort of demonized women and women's bodies," she says. Through her work, she explores themes of identity, acceptance, and belonging. Besides her murals depicting fully nude women, Emma emphasizes that her intention is not only to recognize the female form but also to inspire other women to embrace and love their bodies. She recognizes that women experience due to society's standards imposed on them. Her artistic process takes weeks to complete. Not only does she work in her studio, she also travels to various states, including Texas, New York, Connecticut, Michigan, and Illinois, to showcase her work.
My overall opinion
Emma's Story resonates deeply with me as someone who has struggled with self-love, both inside and out. During my early teenage years and as an adult, I never saw my body or myself as a work of art. Growing up in the peak era of social media, where plastic surgery and the pursuit of the "perfect body" became trends, I often felt that I could look like those influencers if I could reshape myself into society's standard of perfection, I might finally love myself.
Now, at 25, I've come to understand that love and acceptance begin within. There is someone for everyone, but the most important person to cherish is yourself. As someone who has always been thin, one of Emma's murals really spoke to me in a way that was inspiring to find the beauty within myself.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to speak with Emma. As a feminist, I believe that women have the right to make choices about their own bodies, and seeing that belief reflected in her work is truly moving. Her expression through her murals is beyond powerful, and it sends a message as a reminder of self-acceptance.
Thank you, Emma, for sharing your vision and making it into something meaningful.
